How Do Inflatable Mascot Costumes Work?
The use of giant inflatable costumes involves two key steps, namely;
Suit Up
The first step is to place it on the ground and step into it, just like you would with any of your clothes. You would notice that there is quite a bit of space inside. The roomy interior is intentional to improve user comfort.
Power Up
This is where many often feel lost, as it is the mechanism’s core. Costumes are inflated by an integral blower powered by a battery pack. By switching it on, you are able to inflate the costume. Take a look at an astronaut costume, for example.
NOTE: These battery packs can last for a good number of hours before needing replacement. In any case, it would be great to have a few more on hand/site just to be on the safe side.
How Do I Clean and Store Inflatable Mascot Costumes?
Before anything, ensure you always remove the batteries from your giant inflatable costumes immediately after use. This is key in ensuring that the battery pack does not corrode.
Cleaning
You can perform simple cleaning as follows:
Pick up a small, soft cloth, a bucket of water, and (optionally) mild soap.
With them, properly wipe down both the inside and outside of your custom inflatable costumes. Areas with visible dirt and those that may have been in contact with sweat should be worked on with greater (but gentle!) attention.
Never wash your inflatable mascot costumes in a washing machine, as it can damage the costume. Handwashing with careful handling is the prescribed cleaning method. Even when doing so, stay away from harsh chemicals like bleach, as they can damage the fabric.
Storage
Complete air drying of mascots before storage is critical, as it helps hamper the growth of mildew and mold. Once dry, deflate your costume completely and ensure the place where you store it is cool and dry.
Additional Tip: If you still have your original box, use it instead of generic ones. This goes a long way in prolonging its lifespan by reducing the chances of compression damage.
